Matt had chronic stress related asthma that often landed him in scary situations from hospitalization,
throat infections, loss of his voice, to near death attacks. In February of 2007, Matt had a surgery to remove the bottom
part of his esophagus which was badly infected and raw. They took out the bottom 2 centimeters and moved everything up and
put permenant stitches in his throat. His throat didn't heal properly after that, and he never regained his voice. While on
try out in Kansas City with the Royals, he had a severe asthma attack which ripped the stiches in his throat. During surgery
to repair it, he bled out, and they were not able to save him. He passed away on August 27th, 2007.

I hold you."- Anberlin "Time and Confusion"
